The Row, 2010
The Row is a project created in a course called Architecture and the City at MICA. This project grew from the concept of revitalizing vacant properties by creating a shared community space through linking together a block of rowhomes. Through mapping and research, I found a burgeoning arts community in the Station North neighborhood of Baltimore. The form is inspired by a long, gestural brushstroke, symbolizing the expressivity and creativity in the community. Through drawing, modeling, and 3D printing, different iterations began to refine the concept of the connecting space with attention to structural integrity of the forms.
